My wife and I bought this attachment with the new KitchenAid Mixer we received as a Christmas present. I used it preparing dinner last evening, making chicken and pork filling for pan-fried dumplings. The grinder attachment worked great, just as advertised.
Next, we will be purchasing the chopper/shredder attachment. Can\’t wait.

I’ve had two FGA in the last 15 years. The housing split apart after the first one was used 10 times. After tossing it and buying a new one, it gets used twice a month and the set screw for where it is attached to the mixer has been drilled out. The drive shaft has a set screw biting it. I’m trying to decide if I want to buy another one or a completely separate one.

My son gave me a food grinder and a Kitchen Aid mixer. I decided it was too much work to grind chicken after using it a few times. I bought a vegetable and fruit strainer to use on home grown tomatoes. The food grinder attachment had a crack when I took it out of the box, but I still used it. When I tried to put some small grapes through the strainer, they exploded all over me and the kitchen. Since I need a good strainer for my fruits and veggies, I will try the metal one. Hope it performs better.

Excellent attachment, recommend it. You can make your own burgers, chili, meatballs. It’s not necessary to use chuck, sirloin and ribeye. It’s a good idea to have the meat cut into cubes. I put the cubes on the ice in the freezer for 30 minutes. Awesome and healthy too! )

After my son bought me a new one for Christmas a few years back, I walked out the door with my old one, because he thought I needed a silver one instead of white. The outer body of the food grinder broke when I was grinding trimed beef. I use it to make meat balls. The grinder didn’t work well with solid meat. The food grinder is cheap compared to the quality of the mixer. Plastic is a poor choice of material for grinding meat, and I’ve always thought this piece should have been made of cast metal. I am looking for a part number and place to replace the outer body. I hope someone can tell me what to do. Thank you.
