Rich the great! (verified owner) –
I bought this a month ago and love it. It is easy to mix my dough and keep it mixed. I have used the beater before and it doesn’t work like this one. I’m very happy with the product.

I bought the new beater because I thought it would be better for my hands than the regular paddle. It was a disappointment. This thing doesn’t “incorporate” the fat into the flour. It makes it hard to breathe on “Stir” setting. It just makes paste out of the flour-fat mixture before I’ve even added the liquid, had to toss 2 batches, and at 86, I am no novice. You can save money by sticking with the paddle attachment.

The KitchenAid mixer has a pastry beater. The whole process is so easy because I make my own pastries. I don’t use the flat beater anymore because I used to hand mix the butter into the flour mix.
