I like the way the carafe works. It seems to use more of the same grounds as my previous unit. If grounds obstruct the little white ball inside the top, you will have coffee all over your countertop.

When my previous 14 cup Cusinart, which we liked, I thought I’d upgrade to one with a built in grinder. I came back after 3 weeks and was disappointed. The grinder was too loud and ground up beans would pack up. The basket and carafe lid had to be in a certain position to see the various cup fill lines. It was far too many machinations. The Cusinart coffee maker was disappointing.
