The 9-tray has a timer. It’s easy to set up and figure it out. I’m glad we bought the one with the timer because the fan is not loud. I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to dehydrate. Love Excalibur!

My daughter bought a 9 tray Excaliber about 25 years ago and used it extensively for several years before she told me to get one for myself. Excellent decision! It is a great unit and I have used it many times. I make a lot of beef jerky and banana chips for my grandson. I don’t like cleaning the trays because they aren’t convenient for my sink or dishwasher. The grease from the meat is difficult to remove from the tray and the mesh layer. It’s a very fine product and neither of us has ever had any issues with it.

I wonder if the Excalibur can do anything that it can’t do, like drying fruit of different thicknesses or rising bread dough. Also plants. It’s easy to check the trays. It’s simple to clean. It does the job it was designed to do. There are no regrets.

I’ve used it a lot, dehydrating ground beef, imitation crab, brown rice, bananas, apples, and making leathers with tomato sauce/salsa. The times are spot on, there is no wasted space, and it is more efficient than the Nesco round dehydrator I was using before. I use it to prepare meals for backpacking and cycling, it’s worth the extra cost.

We can make our own backpacking meals now that we have this. It is easy to use and allows us to make healthy food for the trail. The pack weight has been lowered and the cost of meals has been reduced. We used some of Chef Glen’s recipe books, as well as other online resources, to put together a menu which we already used for a week long trip on Lake Huron. The process of dehydrating and building our meals was easy to do and the content is easy to understand. It will take about 30 meals for our dehydrator and sheets to pay for ourselves, so we alternate between car camping and backcountry camping. During their Memorial Day sale, we received 25% off on this.

The product works. It makes great dried tomatoes, hot peppers, and chips. I didn’t have a Polyscreen Tray Insert on one of my trays when it arrived. I was able to operate the machine because I went for the 9 tray version. It is easy to use and clean. There are no regrets.
