I don’t have anything to say about longevity. We didn’t have to microwave individual mugs because I wanted this for making tea and hot cocoa for the kids. It is very hot. It will heat the full amount of water in less time than it takes to microwave a mug of water. It has options to heat to cooler temperatures. To make tea or cocoa, you need to heat it up. There is no function to keep the water hot once it is heated. The water in the kettle is warm when I finish one cup of tea and am ready for another. I’m not sure what the effect will be of the water being reheated before it’s completely cooled according to the directions. Will the machine be damaged by it? Is it possible to shorten the lifespan? It’s silly not to have a way to keep the heat on after the water has boiled. Cleaning and filling the kettle isn’t as easy as it could be because the lid doesn’t fully open and it’s not intuitive to use. There are basic functions that seem obvious and Farberware should have thought of them.

My opinion of the Farberware 1. 7 Touch Kettle is very popular. It has a shut off that is nice. You can touch it and not get burned. If you drink a lot of tea, I would recommend buying one.

The design is modern. The instructions are easy to understand. The on/off control is located on the kettle. The marks on the kettle are easy to see and clean. 6 minutes for boiling is more than satisfactory since heating time is good. The automatic shut off is useful.

It’s fast, indicates the starting temperature, and cuts itself off safely. You only fill it to the interior mark if you notice that it’s not a fill to the top. It’s not an issue.
