If you are looking for a starter blender, a gift for kids moving out of the house, or if your budget is limited, this would be acceptable, but in my opinion, the negatives outweigh the positives. It makes a decent orange smoothie and the price is right. The base unit is made out of thin plastic and if they were to get knocked over or hit with a pot in the sink, they would easily crack. When buying a new kitchen appliance, I immediately look for these items; I was disappointed that no recipe booklet or user’s guide was included. The “Use and Care Guide” states that recipes and tips can be obtained online at the manufacturer’s website. What if the buyer doesn’t have access to a computer? I poured the liquids first and then added the ice. Liquid came flying out of the pour spout when I hit the switch. I had to hold a dish towel over the spout to finish the smoothie. I had to remove the cap to pour the smoothie because it was noisy and the lid became stuck in the jar. I think the sound might be caused by the thin plastic jar or base unit. If you are looking for a quiet, durable blender, I would suggest spending a little more for one with either a glass or heavy plastic jar and a metal base cover.
