My wife and I bought this attachment with the new KitchenAid Mixer we received as a Christmas present. I used it preparing dinner last evening, making chicken and pork filling for pan-fried dumplings. The grinder attachment worked great, just as advertised.
Next, we will be purchasing the chopper/shredder attachment. Can\’t wait.

I use ground meat in many of my favorite recipes despite not being satisfied with the quality of ground meats from my grocery store. The KitchenAid food grinder makes it possible for me to have the freshest, leanest, and most delicious ground meat for my meals. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve the quality of their food.

I’ve had two FGA in the last 15 years. The housing split apart after the first one was used 10 times. After tossing it and buying a new one, it gets used twice a month and the set screw for where it is attached to the mixer has been drilled out. The drive shaft has a set screw biting it. I’m trying to decide if I want to buy another one or a completely separate one.

My son gave me a food grinder and a Kitchen Aid mixer. I decided it was too much work to grind chicken after using it a few times. I bought a vegetable and fruit strainer to use on home grown tomatoes. The food grinder attachment had a crack when I took it out of the box, but I still used it. When I tried to put some small grapes through the strainer, they exploded all over me and the kitchen. Since I need a good strainer for my fruits and veggies, I will try the metal one. Hope it performs better.

Excellent attachment, recommend it. You can make your own burgers, chili, meatballs. It’s not necessary to use chuck, sirloin and ribeye. It’s a good idea to have the meat cut into cubes. I put the cubes on the ice in the freezer for 30 minutes. Awesome and healthy too! )

After my son bought me a new one for Christmas a few years back, I walked out the door with my old one, because he thought I needed a silver one instead of white. The outer body of the food grinder broke when I was grinding trimed beef. I use it to make meat balls. The grinder didn’t work well with solid meat. The food grinder is cheap compared to the quality of the mixer. Plastic is a poor choice of material for grinding meat, and I’ve always thought this piece should have been made of cast metal. I am looking for a part number and place to replace the outer body. I hope someone can tell me what to do. Thank you.

I had a bad experience trying to grind pistachios. The coarser plate could be used for a textured result. The outer ring of the circular attachment that holds the grinder plate popped out. The item had no spare part when I went to the service center. I had to pay S$138 for an attachment that I didn’t use. The whole attachment was bought from a second hand seller. Due to the wear and tear of items, KA should consider having such spare parts. If only certain parts break, it doesn’t make sense for buyers to buy item multiple times.

I use the food grinder a lot. I grind the vegetables when I make my own salsa. I bake the vegetables and run them through a coarse grinder to get a consistent consistency. I prefer the chunkiness from the bigger grinder die over the smoothness from a blender or processor. The thing works perfectly and consistently. The only issue I have had with it is that when pressing the juicy vegetables down the chute with the wooden press, it will sometimes put too much pressure and cause the ground veges to squirt out the die and beyond the bowl or to squirt back up the food chute – but I attribute this It’s a better idea to turn up the speed. I don’t grind meat with it. I don’t grind meat for food. This does a perfect job for grinding vegetables.

3 or 4 years ago, I bought a meat grinder. It was coming out with meat whenever I used it. My family and I were consuming metal powder for a long time.

I have three Kitchen Aid mixers that I have purchased over the years and they all work great. I thought I would buy another grinder so I could keep one for each machine. I thought I would buy the plastic unit because it was a little cheaper. When I needed to use it again, I heard a loud crack when I started to grind my fresh meat. I didn’t know what it was, but I couldn’t continue grinding because it wouldn’t work. When cleaning the plastic unit, I found two cracks in the neck part that sits against the machine, as shown in one of the reviews on this page. The cracks were not surface cracks, but through and through, which rendered it useless. No more plastic in the future. There is a lot of waste of money.
